About EduTrailBot

EduTrail helps families compare schools. We want what families see about a school to come from what the school itself publishes, with a link back to the page it came from, rather than from guesswork. EduTrailBot reads those pages so that we can do that.

• Public pages about the school: for example its programs, facilities, student wellbeing, fees and enrolment, and its published annual report.
• A small number of pages per school, found from the homepage and the school's sitemap. It does not crawl a whole site.
• It never logs in, fills in forms, or reads anything that is not publicly available.

• It identifies itself on every request as EduTrailBot/1.0 (+https://edutrail.com.au/crawler)
• It follows your robots.txt file.
• It spaces out its requests so that it does not put load on your website.

We keep a text copy of the pages it reads, so that we can check that anything we show about your school really appears on your website. Where we show families something about your school, they see a short quote with a link to your page and the date we read it, not a copy of the page. We do not collect or publish staff names or contact details.

EduTrailBot reads robots.txt before it fetches anything else. You can also email us at support@edutrail.com.au to ask us to stop, to remove what we hold about your school, or to correct something we show.
